Description
Post medieval drainage ditches are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthwork and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in fields on the S facing bank of the River Thame and centred at SP 79818 15385, a system of interconnected parallel and perpendicular ditches up to 3 metres wide extends about 297 metres NE-SE towards the River Thame, where the ditch links to the river as a tail drain. On aerial photographs taken in 2023 and recent remote sensing data, the ditches are no longer visible, the former meadow having been made into sports fields (1- 3).
