Description

A post medieval platform and boundary ditch is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on a field boundary about 170 metres W of Lower Hartwell Farm and centred at SP 79152 12900, a rectangular platform about 19 x 17 metres is bounded by a ditch up to 2.7 metres wide on the N and E facing sides. The platform is located with a field of medieval/post medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks and two parallel plough headland banks pass immediately S of the platform and both the aerial photographs taken in the 1940s and recent remote sensing data suggests that the platform had been created from the two plough headlands, inferring a post medieval date for its creation (1-3).
