Description
Second World War military or civil government buildings are visible on historic aerial photographs and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located across three locations in the grounds of Peverel Court and centred at SP 79459 11753, the site comprises 16 rectangular military-style pitched-roof buildings. Immediately to the NW of the main house are 11 buildings, seven in a row aligned and each NW-SE, 3 in a row each aligned SW-NE and a further smaller building, all connected by a pathway and a curving roadway. Immediately adjacent the SW facing end of the house is a further building aligned NW-SE. Some 1240 metres to the SSE of the house are 4 further buildings in a row, each aligned SW-NE. By 1948, three of the latter buildings have been demolished and the buildings remain extant in 1950. By 1961, all of the buildings and pathways have been demolished (1-5).
