Description

An ovoid mound of uncertain date and function is visible on remote sensing data as an earthwork and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on a field boundary about 275 metres SSW of Cranwell Farm and centred at SP 76395 15898 is an ovoid earthwork mound about 17 metres in diameter at its widest point. It appears to be sited atop a block of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks, so post-dating it. It may therefore be a windmill mound. On aerial photographs taken in 2015 and recent remote sensing data, the earthwork mound remains extant (1).
