Type and Period (1)
- EXTRACTIVE PIT (Post-Medieval - 1540 AD to 1798 AD)
Description
A post medieval extractive pit is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on the E side of Conduit Hill and centred at SP 75157 21903, the irregularly shaped extractive pit is about 523 square metres in area. The extraction truncates a block of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks, so likely post-dating it (1-2).
