- ROAD (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)
Description
A road of probable medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and cropmarks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located south of the line of what is now Station Road, Haddenham, and centred at SP 73299 08045. The road is visible in use on the 1946 aerial photographs as a short length of road and the line continues beyond the edge of the project area as field boundaries. It can be followed as a low earthwork continuing to the south west on lidar visualisations. The line can also be seen on the Ordnance Surveyors’ Drawing for Aylesbury leading in to the fields to the west of Haddenham. The fields have been amalgamated in the late 20th century in to a single large arable field where medieval and post medieval finds are recorded. (1-2)
