Monument record MBC48551 - Probable accommodation site for RAF Thame, Haddenham

A probable accommodation camp of World War II date is visible on historic aerial photographs as extant buildings and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on land that became Willis Close, Haddenham, and centred at SP 74237 08466. Twelve The site consists of 12 Nissen huts, two Stanton air raid shelters, two possible ablutions blocks, two larger (possible) Laing Huts, and a possible picket post. No plan of RAF Thame was available to the project to identify these buildings precisely. On the images from 1949 and 1950 only the concrete building platforms of the huts are visible and the earth banks have been removed from the air raid shelters but the concrete shelters remain. By 1961 the houses of Willis Road have been constructed on the site. (1-6)
