Description
A circular earthwork mound of uncertain date and function is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a field about 727 metres SSE of Windmillhill Farm and centred at SP 73822 14922, a circular mound is about 21 metres in diameter. The mound is sited within a block of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks and is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1947 as slight soil discolouration, suggesting that it may lie under the ridge and furrow. A second circular mound is visible in the adjacent field some 607 metres to the WSW. It is possible that this is a prehistoric funerary mound and may date from the Bronze Age through to the Roman period (1-2).
