Description
Post medieval drainage ditches are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthwork and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in fields adjacent the River Thame E of Quarrendon House Farm and centred at SP 79923 15629, a system of interconnected parallel and perpendicular ditches up to 2.5 metres wide extends about 272 metres N-S from the SW corner Quarrendon Water Garden earthworks to the River Thame, where the ditch links to the river as a tail drain. On aerial photographs taken in 2023 and recent remote sensing data, the ditches remain intact (1- 3).
