- EXTRACTIVE PIT (Post-Medieval - 1540 AD to 1798 AD)

Description
A post medieval extractive pit is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located about 363 metres SE of Hogshaw Hill Farm on Conduit Hill and centred at SP 74845 21941, the irregularly shaped pit covers an area of about 1,990 square metres. The extraction site appears to cut into a block of medieval and/or post medieval ridge and furrow cultivation, so post-dating it (1-2).
