Description

A Second World War Royal Air Force sports field with two football pitches is visible on historic aerial photographs and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a field E of Ashendon Road and centred at SP 72068 16108 and SP 71999 15977 are two football pitches, each about 100 x 72 metres and each with two goalposts. Visible on aerial photographs taken in 1943, the pitches and goalposts are no longer visible by 1947 (1-2).
