Find Spot record 1569000000 - Thames findspot

Summary

A Neolithic polished flint axe was found in the River Thames near Bisham. It was reported to be in Reading Museum, although no such axe appears to be in that Museum's collections. A ground stone axe, with the edge and one face polished, was recovered from the Thames between Bisham and Marlow, and is in Buckinghamshire County Museum, Aylesbury (accession number A5). Notwithstanding the obvious differences of description, they may be the same axe.
