Description

A woodland boundary of medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located within the Chiltern Forest Gold Club, Aston Clinton, and centred at SP 88866 10402. This boundary bank and ditch are visible along a lynchet (see MBC47259) on the edge of the woodland. The area was cleared of woodland in World War I to supply timber for the trenches and the woodland is very scrubby in 1949 but part of the ditch is visible. The rest of the boundary can be seen continuing on lidar visualisations. (1-3)
