Description

A trackway of medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located east of Bishopstone, Stone with Bishopstone and Hartwell, and centred at SP 81077 10177. Earthworks of banks and ditches along a trackway can be seen on aerial photographs, continuing the line of a plough headland or furlong boundary across fields of ridge and furrow earthworks, leading towards the settlement at Bishopstone and joins another from Standal’s Farm. The trackway can still be followed as cropmarks and low earthworks on Google Earth and lidar visualisations. A recorded fieldname for this area is Gypsey Lane. (1-3)
