Description

A post medieval drainage system is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located across a meadow flanking the west facing bank of the River Thame and centred at SP 85679 17149, a system of interconnected linear ditches that are up to 3.5 metres wide extends across an area of about 325 metres N-S and 115 metres W-E. A large linear drain flank the W facing sides of the meadow field, suggesting the ditch system was created to keep this field well drained (1).
