Description

Possible medieval and/.or post medieval terraced land is visible on historic aerial photograph and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located between Burcott Hall Farm and Long Spinney and centred at SP 88628 23763, a number of scarp slopes form one terrace about 15 metres wide and 160 metres long and a second much smaller terrace about 10 metres wide and 50 metres long, each aligned SW-NE. These features may be formed by geological weathering processes. On aerial photographs taken in 2022 and recent remote sensing data, most of the features remain extant, but post-war agricultural cultivation appears to have levelled and slightly remodelled some of the earthworks (1-4).
