Description

A subrectangular ditched enclosure of uncertain date and function is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthwork and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a field about 1,500 metres WSW of Folly Farm and centred at SP 86351 15336, a subrectangular ditch up to 5 metres wide encloses an internal area about 139 metres WSW-ENE and 84 metres NNW-SSE at its widest points. From the NE corner a sinuous ditch extends NE for 50 metres, which turns NNE for 116 metres and turns ENE for a further 56 metres. Function and date for these features are unclear but appear to underlie an extensive post-medieval drainage system (1-2).
