Monument record MBC47856 - Housing estate of prefabricated houses, south of Meadowcroft, Aylesbury

A housing estate of modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs as buildings and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located south of Meadowcroft, Aylesbury, and centred at SP 80748 14911. A housing estate of approximately 150 prefabricated houses is visible on aerial photographs. A photograph from 1946 shows the estate under construction, to provide temporary accommodation for people whose homes had been destroyed by bombing raids in World War II. The estate can still be seen on images from 1950 but has been replaced by the current housing estate by 1971. The houses are laid out in rows with paths in between joining a road around the estate. Each house looks to be a single storey with a small outbuilding/shed to the rear which is not as tall as the house. (1-9)
