Description
Three probable post medieval extractive pits are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located along a watercourse about 200 metres NW of Lower Wingbury Farm and centred at SP 87428 21080, three adjacent irregularly shaped extractive pits are W-E about 1,293 square metres, 1,043 square metres and 426 square metres. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the features remain visible (1-3).
