Description

Post medieval drainage ditches are visible on historic aerial photograph as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located along meadows flanking the south bank of the River Thame and centred at SP 81143 15301, a sinuous ditch up to 1.5 metres wide extends W-E for about 1, 216 metres. By 1976, most of the features are no longer visible as a result of residential and associated leisure and infrastructural development at Quarrendon. On aerial photographs taken in 2023 and recent remote sensing data, none of the earthworks remain visible (1-6).
