Description

A former medieval road or hollow way is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). The features are located across fields of medieval and/or post medieval ridge and furrow cultivation blocks N of Aston Abbots Road, E of Weedon village and centred at SP 82058 18392. A single curving ditch up to 10- metres wide extends ENE from Northcroft (road) for 280 metres before dividing into two parallel ditches, flanked by earthwork banks, and arcing across a further four more fields for 653 metres, terminating at Aston Abbotts Road opposite Groveway Farm. On aerial photographs taken in 2020 and recent remote sensing data (1-3).
