Description

A post medieval clay pit is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a field about 345 metres E of Dunsham Farm and centred at SP 83389 15299, an irregularly shaped quarry or clay pit covers an area of about 1,180 square metres. The quarry cuts into a block of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks, so post-dating it. On aerial photographs taken in 2023 and recent remote sensing data, the earthwork quarry remains visible (1).
