Description

Two probably medieval rectilinear platforms are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a field about 225 metres WNW of Burcott Lodge Farm and centred at SP 84303 15091, two adjacent rectilinear earthworks platforms, about 25.5 x 35 metres and 25.5 x 29 metres, share a boundary ditch that varies between 3.5 metres and 6.7 metres wide. On remote sensing data gathered in 2020-2021, the earthworks remained extant, but aerial photographs taken in 2023 suggest the features have been levelled to make way for what appears to be a sports field (1-3).
