Description
A ring ditch of probable Bronze Age date is visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a field corner about 540 metres WNW of Fields Farm and centred at SP 80618 17398, a circular ditch up to 3.5 metres wide encloses an internal area of about 20 metres. Aerial photographs taken in 1948 show the location of the features to be part of a block of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation that has been plough levelled subsequently and so pre-dates it. On aerial photographs taken in 2023, the features are not visible (1-3).
