Description
A probable post medieval trackway is visible on historic aerial photograph and remote sensing data as earthwork and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located across the southern part of the fields known as Great Ground in Creslow and centred at SP 81799 21343, a curving ditch up to 3.5 metres wide extends W-E for about 710 metres, partly beneath a sinuous scarp and cutting across blocks of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks, suggesting a later date. A second slightly sinuous ditch runs parallel for about 290 metres, converging with the primary ditch at the W and E end, suggesting a second route for the trackway. On aerial photographs taken in 2022 and recent remote sensing data, much of the trackway remains visible, though some of the E end has been somewhat levelled by the plough (1-3).
