An Iron Age and/or Roman trapezoidal enclosure, a D-shaped enclosure and boundary ditches are visible on aerial photographs as cropmarks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located within a formal enclosure ‘parliamentary’ field south of Bushmead Road and centred at SP 81882 20272, the trapezoidal enclosure is incomplete, its N end being truncated by a modern field boundary. The enclosure ditch is up to 2.5 metres wide. The south facing side is 33 metres W-E and then the visible sections of the W and E facing sides diverge to 47 metres W-E at the widest point. Centred some 85 metres to the S of this is a D-shaped ditched enclosure. The straight side of the D is aligned WNW-ESE and is about 3.5 metreds wide and 22 metres long. The curvilinear arc of ditch of the D is up to about 2.5 metres wide and extends SSW. It encloses an internal area about 18 metres NNE-SSW and 18 metres WNW-ESE at its widest points. Between these features are linear ditches and sections of curvilinear ditch that suggest further possible enclosures or boundaries (3-5).
