Fragment of Neolithic polished flint axe found in Stiver's Wood - A Neolithic polished flint axe with sharply squared sides, now reported to be in Bucks County Museum, Aylesbury, was found at Stifles (? Stivers) Wood near Pollards Wood. It could not be traced at the museum during an Ordnance Survey field investigator's visit in 1974.

Description

PART OF A POLISHED FLINT AXE FOUND STIVER'S WOOD, NOT STIFLES WOOD (B1).
THE AXE HAS SHARPLY SQUARED SIDES, AND IS TYPOLOGICALLY A LATE EXAMPLE (B2-3).
FOUND BY MR J L LOWNDES (B1) AND GIVEN BY HIM TO MUSEUM.




A Neolithic polished flint axe with sharply squared sides, now in the Aylesbury Museum, was found at Stifles (? Stivers) Wood (SU 989962) near Pollards Wood (B2).

Not located in Bucks County Museum; no further information (B4)
