Description

A possible homestead or site of buildings of medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 260m north east of Vatches Farm, Aston Clinton, and centred at SP 86859 12724. Situated approximately 390m east of the Scheduled moat at Vatches Farm ditches of possible plot boundaries and building platforms were mapped as well as a possible trackway that leads towards the moated site. The ridge and furrow earthworks fit around these earthworks; the ditches appear to be plot boundaries enclosing building platforms and some run parallel to existing field boundaries. The whole area is contained inside the A41 bypass and the Akeman Street, the Roman road that runs through Aston Clinton. (1-3)
