Description

Drainage ditches of probable post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs as levelled earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 900m north west of College Farm, Aston Clinton, and centred at SP 86655 14387. These drainage ditches are cut across level areas in between the ridge and furrow field systems that were mapped in the parish on the north side of the Grand Junction Canal. The underlying geology is Gault Formation and Upper Greensand Formation giving clayey soils. Part of the area covered by the ditches has been redeveloped for industrial buildings and the remainder of the area is pasture and the ditches are no longer visible on visible on lidar visualisations.
