Description

Former boundaries and trackways of medieval or post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in Astonhill Coppice, Aston Clinton, and Wood Hill, Buckland, and centred at SP 89874 10397. These trackways are sinuous and would have given access to the small chalk pits in the woodland and they run between pathways which are shown on historic and modern mapping. Modern land use in the woodland includes a bike park, closed at the time of the project due to Ash Dieback, and some trails appear to be made this activity. (1-3)
