Description

Former boundaries of probable medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located south of the moat at Chapman’s Farm, Buckland, and centred at SP 88488 12541. These boundaries could be remnants of those shown on Tresswell’s 1592 map of Buckland which shows the layout of Buckland before the parish was inclosed in the 18th century. They are parallel and perpendicular to existing field boundaries and ridge and furrow earthworks; modern land use has levelled all earthworks visible on the aerial photographs.(1-6)
