Description

Lynchets of probable medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located immediately south of Lodge Farm, Aston Clinton, and centred at SP 89533 11050. These lynchets are on a chalk slope on the Chilterns, they are on the south side of the farm buildings at Lodge Farm. There are six lynchets visible on the slope, each measuring approximately 8m deep; the southern end was wooded in the 1940s and is not clear on lidar visualisations, the northern end is grazed pasture and the lynchets are clearly visible from the Upper Icknield Way.
