Description
A pit of probable post medieval or modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located within Halton Wood, Halton, and centred at SP 88685 10274. The pit is subrectangular and measures approximately 16x10m at its largest. It is cut in to Holywell Nodular Chalk Formation, exploited for clunch, lime and flint. (1-3)
