Monument record MBC47251 - Trackways in Halton Wood, on Aston Hill, Aston Clinton

Trackways of probable medieval and post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs or remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located within woodland on Aston Hill, Aston Clinton, and centred at SP 88795 10092. Trackways, not shown on modern or historic mapping, running across the slopes of the Chilterns escarpment giving access to woodland and chalk pits within the same. These are clearest on lidar visualisations of the woodland area, which also includes a bike park with trails, closed at the time of writing due to Ash die-back, but possibly reusing or creating similar trackways as those mapped by the project as well as those which are clearly for cyclists being tightly twisting and banked up.
