Description
A subrectangular enclosure of uncertain date is visible on historic aerial photographs as extant cropmarks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on the south side of the runway at Halton Airfield, Halton, and centred at SP 87017 10949. The enclosure measures approximately 63x62m and has a darker area at the centre. It appears to be in a gap in the ridge and furrow field patterns which may make it a medieval farmstead, or similar, which was removed by the creation of the parkland at Halton in the late 19th century and later by the Arm and RAF camps and airfield which used the land from the beginning of the 20th century and continues to the present day.
