Description

A possible extractive pit of probable post medieval date is visible on remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in Marl Copse, Halton, and centred at SP 87851 10507. Earthworks of a subrectangular pit, measuring 113x94m, on the south side of the Grand Junction Canal, is visible as earthworks in woodland. Epoch 1 Ordnance Survey map shows the name Marl Copse.(1-2)
