Description
Evaluation trial trenching carried out by Network Archaeology in June 2012 in advance of proposed construction of new Music School buildings found the truncated remains of a shallow subcircular pit or hollow 0.8m wide and 0.05m deep, with a fill containing charcoal fragments, small fragments of burnt bone, burnt flint and Roman pottery, interpreted as a possible Roman cremation burial. The charcoal and bone appears not to been identified or analysed. See report for detail (B1).
