Description
A probable pillow mound of post-medieval are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). About 330 metres to the east of Wingpark Clump and centred at SP 88608 21821 is a lnear ditch with parallel long sides about 25 metres WSW-ENE and 4.5 metres NNW-SSE wide, with rounded ends, is surrounded by a 1 metre wide ditch. This earthwork feature is about 475 metres south of six probable pillow mounds (MBC3326 / 0110105000), adjacent Old Ascott House site. On aerial photographs taken in 1976 the probable pillow mound to the west of the road has been plough levelled, and in 2015 and on recent remote sensing data, no features are visible (1-4).
