Description
A Rifle Range of probable World War I date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on the north side of Wood Hill, Buckland, and centred at SP 89761 10686. The range consists of earthworks visible in the 1940s, a road and butts at the southern end. The earthworks are parallel to each other and approximately 280m apart with what looks to be an access road across the site. This is sited between the main camp areas in 1914-18 and the practice trenches further east on Wood Hill/Aston Hill (MBC22239). (1-4)
