  • ROAD (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)

Description

A short length of road of probable medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 300m south of Church Farm, Weston Turville, and centred at SP 85916 09832. Two curving parallel ditches, along the line of a possible trackway, are visible as earthworks; they appear to be crossed by the earthworks of the post medieval watermeadows. The construction of the Weston Turville Reservoir (MBC4376) for the Grand Junction Canal may have affected the course of the road.(1-2)
