Description

A short length of boundary bank of probable medieval/post medieval date is visible on remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in Bradnidge Wood, Aston Clinton, and centred at SP 89694 09474. This boundary bank is perpendicular to the lynchets recorded in the same woodland and appears to be the part of the boundary between Bradnidge Wood and Round Spring wood. It is just inside the boundary for the Dancersend SSSI, noted for unimproved chalk grassland, scrub, coppiced and regenerating woodland and plantations. All historic mapping available to this project shows the area as woodland and modern landuse continues as a nature reserve with access pathways. (1-3)
