- WOOD BANK (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)
Description
A woodland boundary of medieval/post medieval date is visible on remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located at the south western corner of Halton Wood, Halton, and centred at SP 87988 08131. A bank and ditch of medieval/post medieval date is visible as earthworks on lidar visualisations; land use in the 1940s was woodland. This area does not seem to have been included in the woodland that was cleared in World War I to supply wood for the trenches and land use continues as woodland as part of a country park managed by Forestry England.(1-3)
