LARGE NUMBER OF HAND AXES DESCRIBED & SKETCHED FROM STOMP ROAD PIT (B2).

Site mentioned in English Rivers Palaeolithic Survey (B7-8)
(SU 931818 Palaeolithic implements found in the general area of Stomp Road comprise: 129 handaxes and 3 roughouts, 8 retouched and 7 unretouched flakes and 2 Levallois flakes. Distribution: Mainly in Oxford University Museum but some in Luton and British Museums. It is probable that some of this material came from Haycock's Pit (SU 98 SW 8) but not so marked (B4).
Bucks County Museum Pa Index lists the Treacher Collection of 113 handaxes and 20 flakes all of which are in Oxford University Museum (No acc nos). (Not listed are those in the British Museum and Luton Museum) (B9).
