- FIELD BOUNDARY (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)
Description
A field boundary of possible medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 70m north of Beechwood Cottages, Wendover, and centred at SP 87884 08306. The cropmark is visible in an arable field in 1945 but the area is in the process of being redeveloped for housing in 1950. The field boundary appears to be present on the Ordnance Surveyors’ Drawing of High Wycombe, dated 1812. It is not shown on the Ordnance Survey Epoch 1 map but aligns with boundaries that are shown on this map. (1-4)
