Description
Two chalk pits of probable post medieval/modern date are visible on remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 680m north of the site of Calloway Farm, Halton Woods, Halton, and centred at SP 88613 08870. The pits are sub circular in shape and measure approximately 9-15m across; they are cut in to Lewes Nodular Chalk Formation, mainly used for flint and lime. Land use in 1945 shows woodland and modern land use is woodland. (1-4)
