Description

A line of chalk pits and a possible trackway of probable post medieval/modern date are visible on remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 250m north of Boddington Camp, Halton Woods, Halton, and centred at SP 88552 08368. The pits are irregular in shape and measure approximately 9-16m across; they are cut in to Lewes Nodular Chalk, mainly used for flint and lime. Land use in 1945 shows woodland and modern land use is woodland. (1-4)
