Description
A chalk pit of probable post medieval date is visible on remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 270m south west of the former Calloway Farm, at the northern end of Boddington Camp, Halton Woods, Halton, and centred at SP 88107 08104. The area is wooded in 1945 and remains as woodland on modern aerial photographs; the earthworks are clearly visible on lidar visualisations. The pits is cut in to Chalk Rock Formation, a hard chalk used for building stone, and measures 12x8m in size.
