Blocks of medieval and/or post medieval ridge and furrow cultivation, remnants of the former common open-field system, is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located across the northwest facing boundary of Mentmore parish and centred at SP 89438 20604, clustered blocks of ridge and furrow, much aligned NW-SE or SW-NE are located within parliamentary fields. An Inclosure Award for Mentmore was made in 1839 under the Act of 1836. On aerial photographs taken between 2015-2019 and recent remote sensing data, almost every mapped block of cultivation earthworks have been plough levelled (1-6).
