  • DRAINAGE DITCH (Post-Medieval - 1540 AD to 1798 AD)

Description

Drainage ditches of post medieval of date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 300m west of World’s End, Wendover, and centred at SP 85628 09128. The ditches are parallel to current field boundaries, probably created from the 18th century inclosure of the parish, which are straight and do not fit with any ridge and furrow field systems or earlier routes of roads which are visible in the area. Underlying solid geology is Upper Greensand Siltstone and Mudstone, no Superficial Deposits are recorded. (1-2)
