Monument record MBC46686 - Drainage ditches approximately 700m south of World's End, Wendover

Drainage ditches of probable post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and levelled earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 700m to the south of World’s End, Wendover, and centred at SP 86071 08518. This system of drainage ditches is on the west side of a small watercourse, marked as a Watercress Bed on the Ordnance Survey Epoch 2 map of the area, which starts at the spring line at the foot of the Chilterns escarpment. The ditches are parallel to the field boundaries shown on historic mapping and crossed by a road, possibly the line of the possible former course of Dobbin’s Lane, on the north side of Wendover, altered in the 18th century inclosure of the parish.
